Science Communication: Building Bridges between Science and the Public

As part of the SoDoc workshop, we will offer a whole-group  session on science communication. The half-day workshop will  take place on Wednesday, September 23rd, and will be led by  Dr. Julian Fick.

Workshop Leader

Dr. Julian Fick is an experienced science communication trainer who completed his doctoral research on science communication  workshops and is part of the DGPs Interest Group Science Communication in Psychology (PsyComm). With his strong theoretical background and extensive practical experience in designing engaging, accessible workshops, he is an excellent fit for this session, and we are looking forward to having him!

Workshop Overview

As a researcher, should I talk to members of the public about my research, and if so, how can I do this successfully? These questions form the focus of the workshop and, more abstractly, address the relationship between science and the public. However, the workshop will present science communication not only as a practical task but also as a field of research within psychology. In addition to a short introductory talk, there will also be opportunities for discussion and brief practical exercises. The aim is to encourage participants to reflect on their own identity as researchers and on the role of psychology as a scientific discipline in society.

We are looking forward to an interesting, engaging session with you all!
