About the RPTU
RPTU was created on January 1, 2023 from the merger of TU Kaiserslautern and the University of Landau.
As a place of top international research and a hotbed of academic talent, we offer an excellent, cosmopolitan environment for study and research. For around 17,000 students (including more than 3,000 international students), 300 professorships and a total of 4,000 employees, we create clear structures and the shortest possible distances. At RPTU, students can choose from over 160 degree programs to develop and expand their skills and competencies. RPTU is organized into two main campuses, about 60 km apart.
The Faculty of Psychology at RPTU is located on the Landau campus. Here, our students study various subjects on the main campus, which is housed in a historic fortress complex, as well as at various locations in the beautiful and vibrant city.
Our great team at the International Office will guide you through the application process, travel preparations, enrolment and all organizational and administrative steps after your arrival in Landau.
Landau

Nestled between the Rhine plain and the Palatinate Forest lies the small town of Landau with around 49,000 inhabitants, including more than 7,500 students. This makes the town large enough to offer a wide range of services, but at the same time it has a charming atmosphere and is small enough to be easy to find your way around.
A diverse and interesting calendar of events underlines Landau's reputation as a city of culture. The city itself offers a high quality of life with its many historic buildings, parks, cafés and a lively farmers' market. The average of 1800 hours of sunshine per year gives it an almost Mediterranean feel.
The Greater Region offers various attractions: historical sights, castles and palaces, modern galleries and museums, concerts from rock to classical music, lectures and (wine) festivals all year round. In fact, the region is known for its viticulture, and Landau is the largest wine-growing community in Germany. It is also part of the German Wine Route, which is around 85 kilometers long in total.
Nearby is the Palatinate Forest, the largest contiguous forest in Central Europe and part of a cross-border biosphere reserve with France, which offers excellent outdoor leisure activities such as hiking, climbing or mountain biking. It is a paradise for all nature lovers.
If Landau is not enough for you, you can easily reach major German and European cities such as Frankfurt (2 hours), Munich (4 hours), Cologne (2.5 hours), Paris (4 hours), Basel (2 hours) and Strasbourg (2 hours) from here.
