The department's central psychophysiology laboratory is located at Ostbahnstraße 10 in Landau.
On 222 square meters, several measuring stations are available where biological indicators of psychological processes can be recorded. The technical equipment allows the measurement of a variety of variables, e.g.
- electrical brain activity (EEG)
- eye movements and pupil width (VOG)
- cardiovascular activity (ECG, ICG)
- electrodermal activity (SCR)
- muscle tension (EMG)
- manual reaction times
In the laboratory experiment, the subject can be presented with various sensory stimuli, e.g:
- precisely controlled auditory and visual stimuli
- Presentations in virtual reality
- biofeedback
- aversive thermal and electrical stimuli
- transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)
Four separate rooms are available for carrying out laboratory experiments with psychophysiological measurements. A common control room allows the experiments to be controlled and the measuring stations to be video-monitored. A group room with five PC workstations is available to students and staff for data preparation and analysis and can also be used by small groups during courses.
The laboratory is aimed at all scientists in the department. It offers students the opportunity to learn experimental work as part of internships and final theses. Doctoral students can use the lab as part of their doctorate.
