About the RPTU - University of Kaiserslautern-Landau
The RPTU emerged on January 1, 2023 as a merger of the TU Kaiserslautern and the University in Landau.
As a place of top international research and an academic talent factory, we offer an excellent, cosmopolitan environment for study and research. For around 17,000 students (of which more than 3000 are international), 300 professorships and a total of 4,000 employees, we are creating clear structures and the shortest possible paths. At RPTU, students can choose from over 160 degree programs to develop and expand their skills and competencies. The RPTU is organised in two main campuses that are roughly 60 km apart.
The RPTU Faculty of Psychology is located on the Landau campus. Here, our students study various subjects on the main campus settled in a historic fortress environment as well as distributed all over the beautiful and lively city.
Our great International Office Team will guide you through the application process, travel preparations, enrollment and all organisational and administrative steps after your arrival in Landau.
Landau
Nestled between the Rhine river plains and the Palatinate Forest, the small city of Landau has approximately 49,000 inhabitants of which more than 7,500 are students. Thereby, the town is big enough to offer a diverse range of services but at the same time has a charming atmosphere and is small enough so you can find your way around easily.
A multifaceted and interesting event calendar underlines Landau's reputation as a cultural city. The city itself offers a high quality of life with its many historic buildings, parks, cafés and a lively farmers' market. The average of 1800 hours of sun per year convey an almost mediterranean feeling.
The greater region offers various attractions: historic sights, castles and palaces, modern galleries and museums, concerts ranging from rock to classical music, lectures and (wine) festivals all year round. Actually, the region is famous for its viticulture, and Landau is the biggest wine growing municipality in Germany. It is also part of the German Wine Route, which in total is about 85 kilometers long.
Nearby, the Palatinate Forest is the largest contiguous forest in Central Europe and part of a trans-border biosphere reserve with France, providing excellent outdoor recreational activities like hiking, rock climbing, or mountain biking. It is a paradise for all nature lovers.
If Landau is not enough, you can easily reach major German and European cities like Frankfurt (2 h), Munich (4 h), Cologne (2.5 h), Paris (4 h), Basel (2 h) and Strasbourg (2 h). A ride to the RPTU campus in Kaiserslautern takes about one hour.
