Lea Schemer is a clinical researcher and licensed psychotherapist. Since completing her PhD, she has been interested in understanding treatment processes in exposure-based interventions for chronic pain. As a postdoctoral research fellow in the ARPID project (Affect Regulation: Processes, Development, and Interventions in Clinical and Nonclinical Populations), she investigated affect regulation as a transdiagnostic mechanism underlying pain and related symptoms. Her current work focuses on improving the delivery of exposure-based interventions through therapist training and on implementing single-case experimental designs and experience sampling methods in routine outpatient care. Her work aims to advance psychological pain treatments toward more effective, personalized, and patient-centered care.
